What Geocaching means to Me?

The first time I went geocaching was in beautiful Estes Park. I wasn't the one who found the cache, but enjoyed the experience. We (my husband Ryan, son Billy and I) were about twenty feet away from an elk herd and I was just about in reaching distance of a calf. Ryan had to warn me of the danger of the approaching momma elk! The day was perfect – time well spent with my family and in nature.
I have a great time when we go – though I don't think I have ever found one for myself – well, Ryan did "let" me find one near home. I think that Ryan has made it his mission to find every cache in the world – at least in Colorado! So, sometimes, geocaching means not seeing my husband for a few hours! ha-ha-ha.
I think that it is a great family-friendly sport. I look forward to our son being older so that he can become a more active participant. The thing I appreciate most about it – other than the time with my family, is the way it leads us to places I never knew existed. Just the places we have found near our home amazes me. We have found great parks and recreation areas we never would have known of otherwise. We will be able to enjoy those areas and the ones we have yet to find for years to come.
I guess I need to get my own geo-name so I can start logging my own finds!! I travel quite a bit for work, I may just have to give Ryan a run for his money!
