What Geocaching means to hkyplr?

My Geocaching name is hkyplr.

My occupation is Truck Driver and that is what brought me to geocaching, in a round about way. On March 30, 2006 I was in a very serious accident in Northern California, almost died. I lost my GPS, along with a lot of other stuff in the accident. When I got home and started putting things back together I was looking for a new GPS unit on the Garmin website when I came across the geocaching page. It sounded like a lot of fun so I created an account and brought it to the attention of my Mom and her fiance (PoolRoom). This accident has given me the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my wife and son that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise, and of course the time to hunt geocaches. Me, my wife, my son (born June 2005) and our dog really enjoy this. We look forward to the exercise and the thrill of the hunt. Now we are hiding our own caches so look out.

I have many hobbies: Motorcycles, racquetball, baseball, softball, golf, Ice and Inline hockey, hunting, camping and uhhh, oh yeah, geocaching. I have become addicted to the point that I am starting my own website on geocaching. www.totalgeocaching.com. We will see what becomes of it.

I wish I would have known about geocaching when I was out on the road. It definitely would have helped break up the boredom. I have been married to a great woman for the last 2 years. We have a son, who has changed our lives in ways I cannot explain, and a dog, Justice, who loves to walk.

The thing I like about geocaching is it can be whatever you want it to be. You can be in it for the number of caches found, you can be in it for the number of caches hidden. Collecting geocoins can be your thing. Finding and moving trackables along can float your boat. There are caches out there for everyone, from a 5×5 rating to a 1×1 rating. Handicapped, children, dogs it doesn’t matter, all are welcome. The only thing that matters is that you treat other people and their property with respect.
